Happy Friday nerds. Its the weekend and I found myself wondering what to do. I thought I would share a few activities going on around the metro Phoenix area.
Ant-Man is finally out! I have seen some early buzz on my Twitter feed, and so far it is very positive. Paul Rudd has been a long time favourite of mine (overnight delivery represent). I am looking forward to seeing this movie. People have mentioned staying till the end, so I suspect a post credits stinger will be present. I hope some elements from Irredeemable Ant-Man make it into the movie, but I doubt that will happen.
Star Wars Saturday at Barnes & Noble
Barnes & Noble at Desert Ridge Marketplace, will be hosting a Star Wars day on 7/18/15 at 11am, featuring "exclusive products, activities, trivia and for a chance to win a Star Wars character standee". They will also have Star Wars story time, in which they'll "be reading some of our favorite Star Wars themed stories". I hope this includes Shadows of the Empire, if only for the scene where Prince Xizor, makes Princess Leia horny, using his alien pheromones.
Star Wars Saturday At Chase Field
Speaking of Star Wars, the Arizona Diamondbacks will host their own Star Wars night when they face the San Francisco Giants, this Saturday 7/18/15. This means "The first 20,000 fans in attendance will receive a custom A.J. Pollock Star Wars Bobblehead", and a salute to "Luke, Leia, and the whole Star Wars crew" This video is from a previous Star Wars day.
Hip Hop House Live! feat. Bodega Brovas
Live, Tonight, not sold out...ahem, that's a Nirvana reference. Yucca Tap Room will be hosting The Hip House House. Scheduled to appear are BODEGA BROVAS, ROQ'Y TYRAID, CHALK DIEZEL & TWO-FACE, INNERMOOD, plus resident deejays FACT135 and J20. This is a FREE event, however, if you do go, please buy some drinks and artist merch to show support.
Lucha Libre Voz!
We here at Nerdworld USA love pro wrestling. I was sent a text reminding me of the weekly sunday event, Lucha Libre Voz, which occurs every sunday at the Arizona Event Center in Mesa. Doors open at 3, tix are $6, kids are $3.
Amy Schumer has made a big impact this year, and Judd Apatow has a history of funny movies. John Cena, while no Dolph Ziggler, making an appearance is sure to be hilarious. At least we know his dialogue will be loud and clear, as he is routinely heard "calling spots" in his pro wrestling matches. Hopefully we will see him perform his "STF" submission move, which will result in an orgasm...wouldn't be the 1st time I'm sure.
I hope you have fun this weekend, whatever you do. Feel free to leave a comment letting us know of other suggestions.
